Planet Earth is a superbly conceived and realized 6,586,242,500,000,000,000,000-ton (over 6.5 sextillion tons) spaceship, cruise-speeding frictionlessly and soundlessly on an incredibly accurate celestial course. Spaceship Earth's spherical passenger deck is largely occupied by a 140-million-square-mile "swimming pool, " whose three principal widenings are called oceans.
