Nothing too exciting right now: I haven't gotten to the studio thanks to the holidays and now my daughter being home sick from school. And if she feels sick enough to stay home from school, chances are she's at death's door -- she loves school for some reason -- so I have to stay home to hover over her wan form.
So no studio and not much art, but I did turn out a couple of small drawings yesterday. I'm unsure about them. They're a bit odd.

Wow! I really like the first one, Chris!
Chris - I really like the doors that open with the first one. It looks like you just followed your instincts and ended up somewhere. I'd love to see the result if it were more composed.Nice work!J.T.
Thank you, both of you. I appreciate it.When you say "more composed," JT, what are you thinking? Just generally approached more seriously? It was an entirely off-the-cuff thing -- I sketched out a vague outline and then went over it with the brush pen -- so you're justified in saying it's not composed at all in any way. I'm just wondering what "composed" means to you in this context.
Chris,I think what I mean is more planned. Not in a designed sort of way. Just more thought in generally what you want to accomplish with the drawing. What should go where. A basic framework, I guess. Like you said, I get the feeling here that you were just having fun... an experiment of sorts. Now that we know the experiment revealed something interesting, I'd be curious to see what more controlled experiments yielded.J.T.
First time on your blog...and from scrolling, it looks like a lovely marriage of your more decorative pieces (studio shots) and your figurative works....lovely marriage of the two.
Thanks, Tatiana. I'm still not sure how or if it will translate into paint, but we'll see.
